Inside the Field; Quail Hollow Championship

April 27, 2010 by Joy · Leave a Comment

Now in its eighth year, the Quail Hollow Championship not only feels like a major but it will have an audience to match.  Tickets are sold out, the golf course is in spectacular condition and it’s one of the strongest tournament fields in golf this season.   Phil Mickelson is scheduled to play for the first time since his Masters victory and Tiger Woods will be playing in his first regular PGA Tour event of 2010.
Dr Morris Pickens is on site this week at Quail Hollow working with four of his top PGA Tour players.   Lucas Glover tied for 2nd at this event last year, Jonathan Byrd finished tied for 5th, Zach Johnson led after 3 rounds and Stewart Cink currently sits 25th in world golf rankings.

Good luck to Dr Mo’s players and be sure to sign up for his newsletter to learn his tips taught to the pro’s.

6-time Masters Champion; Jack Nicklaus notices Dr Pickens putting drill

Dr Mo has had a busy Masters week, but so has 6-time Masters Champion, Jack Nicklaus.   Nicklaus played the Par 3 tournament Wednesday and hit a ceremonial tee shot alongside Arnold Palmer prior to the first round, Thursday morning.  Masters Patrons couldn’t help but notice when Jack Nicklaus stepped onto the putting green to warm up.  Which just happened to be at the same time Dr Mo was working with 2007 Masters Champion Zach Johnson on some putting drills.  What an honor for both Zach and Dr Mo to have Nicklaus pause from his warm up to watch a few putts.

The 1986 Masters tournament was historic victory in which Jack Nicklaus shot a 65 (including a back nine 30) during the final round to become the oldest winner of the Masters.

Dr Mo is hard at work during this week’s practice rounds at Augusta National with his three recent major champions in the field. Zach Johnson, the 2007 Masters Champion, Stewart Cink the defending 2009 British Open Champion and Lucas Glover the reigning 2009 US Open Champion.  First round pairings were announced Tuesday afternoon and Dr Mo shouldn’t have any trouble monitoring how his golfers are playing Augusta National on Thursday.  Three of his players in this weeks field will tee off within 30-minutes of each other during the first round.  Group 26 includes Zach Johnson teeing off at 12:47, Group 28 includes Lucas Glover at 1:09 and Stewart Cink is in group 29 teeing off at 1:20. Check back often for updates throughout Masters week and be sure to sign up for Dr Mo’s next newsletter to learn tips that you can use this weekend on the golf course.
